If You Want It, Fight For It

May 22, 2017 by Audrey D

Sitting on your butt, pissed off and bitter about your life isn't going to change anything. You have to get up, get out, and make change happen. If you want it, you have to fight for it.

Life isn’t fair. And that sucks. But no amount of complaining is going to fix things. There are people who are actively working to change the system for the better, but that could take years. In the meantime, you have to do the best you can with what you have right now. What can you do to get you closer to your goals? What decisions can you make, what small steps can you take? There are a lot of potential roadblocks out there, but for each one, there is a detour that will get you around the obstacle in your path and back on track. Ask yourself what you can do that is within your control that helps you move in the right direction. Drink a glass of water. Take a walk around the block. Go to bed earlier.

Sitting on your butt, pissed off and bitter about your life isn’t going to change anything. You have to get up, get out, and make change happen. If you want it, you have to fight for it.

Reaching Your Goal Weight is 100% Possible

April 24, 2017 by Audrey D

The thing about reaching your goal weight is that it's 100% possible. It's completely in your control. The only thing stopping you from getting there is you. So get out of your own way.

You CAN reach your goal. Even if you have a big, huge, hairy, audacious goal. You can get there! It won’t necessarily be easy though. You’re going to have to want it. Bad. You’re going to have to make your goal a top priority. You may have to give something up. But more than likely, you will gain so much more! Health, confidence, even a new zeal for life. Set aside the excuses and you will succeed.

The thing about reaching your goal weight (whether that’s on the scale or on the bar!) is that it’s 100% possible. It’s completely in your control. The only thing stopping you from getting there is you. So get out of your own way.

Would You Rather Make Progress or Excuses?

April 3, 2017 by Audrey D

making progress is more important than making excuses

Time is inexorable, marching along, bringing with it new experiences and surprises. As much as we might like, we can’t pause it to get a break or get more of it somehow. We also can’t speed it up to get through a trying time faster. Life will keep on happening, and with it, good days and bad, difficult times and wonderful ones. Too often, we live for some point in the future. Next weekend. Next payday. Next month. I’ll start next Monday. Once X is over, I’ll be able to do Y. The problem is that once X is over, Z happens, and Y gets pushed back yet again. Don’t put your health on hold waiting for some perfect time, because there never will be a perfect time.

For some of us, it’s about perfectionism. We want everything to be perfect. But what we’re really doing is being greedy. I could go do a shortened version of my workout today, or, I could wait until tomorrow to be able to do the whole thing and get all the benefits of doing the entire workout. So I wait, and then tomorrow something else comes up and I end up not doing a workout again. Or, if I can’t be perfect with following my diet today, I’m just not going to try, because I want my efforts to be maximized as much as possible.

Little bits of progress here and there DO add up! Consistency is the key to success. While you are still waiting to find an easy way or a perfect time, someone else is already getting results because they decided making progress is more important than making excuses.

Nobody Cares About Your Excuses

December 19, 2016 by Audrey D

nobody-cares-about-your-excuses

Some tough love for you today. Excuses are going to get you nowhere. No one can do the work for you, you have to do this yourself, for yourself. At the end of the day, it’s just you inside your own head. Do you want to look back on the day with satisfaction, or regret that you could have done better but didn’t? That cute outfit you want doesn’t care about your excuses, it’s not going to just magically look good on you. Your kids don’t understand your excuses when they want you to play with them but you can’t keep up. While we can all wish that people didn’t make snap decisions, first impressions DO matter, and excuses won’t help you catch a date with that cute someone you’ve had your eye on. So cast off your excuses and take steps toward reaching your goal today!
